Wonderful ways to use your NT-12 Diagnostic Fog Machine |
|||||||||||||||
| 1. | Plenum Leaks – Use your NT-12 to expose leaks in the fuel/air intake system. With the engine off, simply connect the NT-12 to a vacuum port on the intake assembly. Be sure to cap off any holes, such as the throttle body. Fill the intake with smoke and watch for leaks. Helpful Hint: When you find the leak, show it to your customer – seeing is believing, and believing is a certain sale. | ||||||||||||||
| 2. | EVAP System Leaks – Got a check engine light on for an EVAP leak? Use your NT-12 and the NT-12EVA EVAP Adapter and you can connect right to the vehicle’s EVAP port. Once connected, you can fill the EVAP system with smoke and trace down the leaks. Be sure to use the adapter to limit the pressure to the EVAP system. |

| 3. | Exhaust Leaks – Have an exhaust leak? With the engine off, simply insert the hose from the NT-12 into the tail pipe and plug around it with a shop rag. Fill the exhaust system with smoke (some large exhaust systems take a bit longer) and watch the manifolds, joints, mufflers and converters to find and expose all the leaks. | ||||||||||||||
| 4. | Leak Down Test – Have an engine with low compression? With the NT-12, you can easily find if the problem is an intake, exhaust or piston problem. Instead of using compressed air on a regular leak-down test, use smoke from the NT-12. Fill the bad cylinder(s) with smoke and watch the intake, exhaust system or the engine to determine where the problem lies with the cylinder(s). | ||||||||||||||
| 5. | Transmissions and Engines – When you have a new transmission and you want to make sure that it will not leak fill it first with smoke via the dipstick tube. Watch the tail-shaft seal and the front pump seal to verify that it will hold pressure (your NT-12 creates up to five p.s.i.). New engines can be tested the same way! Five minutes of bench testing can save you hours of reinstallation and customer headaches. |
